I have heard that as well. I did have the truck timed around 25* once before. It made more power but taking off off the line was definitely more work as this truck is stick shift. Its seeming to me that it may be a worn out p7100. I get a chatter between 1900-2200 rpm thats louder under load, and it sounds like its on the injection pump side. Will they make more noise like that if they are going bad?

I don't know but I read people using that pump make lots of power.

Geez where do I start with this one.

First, was the pump built or rebuilt?

Second, VP Bar pressures don't work well with a P Pump 260 to 280 work best based on how the pump is set up.

Third, what is the compression at?

Compression should be factory 6.7 Compression though it does have flycut qsb pistons so maybe a tad lower? Piston protrusion is the same as a stock 6.7, like .010 over deck height.

I havent gotten the injecton pump rebuilt. Thats kind of what ive been leaning towards. It does chatter a bit between 19-2300 ish rpm. Kinda like a rail rattle on a common rail.

SOOO? The compression has not been checked and or calculated.

If it was mine I would pull all the injectors out and have them set properly and NOT just to P/pump bar pressures. VP bodies will have a certain amount of modification done to work with the pump properly. People will tell you differently however call Don at F1 Diesel or now FLUX diesel and ask him. He will tell the same as I.

Need to check the compression and leak down on the motor. Something does not make sense with the build. I've built many of these. Two things make power fuel and the ability to compress air.

Lastly check the How Too section of the forum on how to modify the AFC housing. Its a good read and you can do this yourself with minimal pain.

I did a compression check a while back and all 6 cylinders were around 600+ psi if i remember correctly.

I was thinking of sending out the ip and injectors soon when i get the money if i dont figure it out to get checked and or rebuild and such. Just sucks as its a daily and id be down the truck for a bit. Does that guy do pumps too? I figured a maxed out stock 215 is plenty

600???? Best any Cummins willl do is 380. Sorry but I would suggest you run the test again.
