Default TIre Question

Have Toyo Open Country AT's (285/70-17) but ripped the sidewall on one.
The AT2's replace the AT's.
The load rating is now 3195lbs for the AT2's NOT 3750lbs.
Is there any tire 285/70-17E out there that carries 3750lbs or more?

Nitto's I think the dune grapplers are 285/70/17 E @ 3750

trail grapplers are 3195

I contacted Toyo a few months ago about the reduced load rating on the AT2 (in 285/75/17) and here is the reply verbatim: "Thank you for contacting Toyo Tires USA. The new Open Country ATII in size LT285/75R17 121/118S E/10 is now conforming to the TRA (Tire and Rim Association) standards that all 17 rim diameters cap at 121 load index. Our original Open Country AT was designed outside of the TRA standards. The design and build of the tire is the same except the load capacity is maxed out at 3,195 lbs."

When I researched this a bit more, the TRA caps all 17 inch rims at 121 load index (which is 3195 lbs), so a tire rated in conformance with TRA is also capped at 121 load index, regardless if its load carrying capacity might actually exceed 3195.

So essentially you have the AT which was rated at 3970 (in 285/75/17) now rated at 3195 in the AT2, simply because TOYO is now rating in conformance with TRA.
