Default '86 Auto

My sons looking at a 1986 with 175K, 2wd, auto. He's asking me about how good the transmission was in these. My '84 was a gasser with a stick so I don't know anything about the auto's. Any input would be appreciated.
The truck looks to be in very good condition with a $9500.00 asking price.
Thanks

Is it a gasser or Cummins? Price seems a bit high to me

It's a Cummins. I thought it was priced too high.

Where's it parked, I would love to answer any questions about the auto, but I have never owned one.
That 12 valve is almost bullet proof and take well to twins. Check behind the kick panels for rust. If it is in showroom condition may go $9000 . I would start @ $7500 and go from there.
Get some pics and we'll tell you what's wrong with it so you can use that to get that price down. Also does it have A/C? cloth or vinyl seats? Did you test drive it?

That imo is a heck of a lot of money for a 2wd, if it was a 4x4 and in showroom cond, it might get 9000.00, and thats american currency. I've seen some pretty mint 2wds up here in BC over the years with less that 100,000 miles on the clock, and the most they're asking is no more than 5000.00 cdn. There was one 4x4 on craigslist a guy at work showed me and he was asking 27000.00, clean, low mileage, but get real, more than the new sticker price??? People have the right to ask what they want, but if they'll get it is another story.
