It's whatever the market will bear, that's why it pays to keep a little gasser in the yard.
When fuel get's stoopid high, I drive my little '92 Olds Bravada gasser (1st Gen).
Lighter vehicle & same fuel mileage.

Herb, during winter the refiners have to make more heating oil, especially in the colder winter months. They normally have a minimum supply on hand, but in extreme cold, like now, it's in very high demand.

Because of this, since heating oil is of the same general cut as diesel and jet, they tend to keep the prices up to slow the public in buying diesel, thus maintaining the needed supplies. If prices are to be lower, they will cut when the need for heating demands (warmer weather) is lower.

Ever notice in the summer diesel and heating oil is higher when jet is in higher demand ? Vacation trips and such plus during holidays.

The thing that upsets me is they still have a high supply of diesel year round, but ship overseas a lot because of contracts with other countries and the military. If they only produce oil for the USA, the prices would be cheaper due to high storage within.

Our price is 3.689
