That's a bummer. Twisting stuff seems to be worse than falling in some cases.

My truck laid a pretty good hit on me yesterday. I just hauled home a 67 beetle that has a bad tire, goes flat in maybe 5 minutes, so I pulled it in the barn next to the truck and that is where it is staying till I get better tires. The beetle arrived without seats so I was kneeling down putting in a set of front seats and when I got up, I smacked the top of my head on the underside of the trailering mirror on the truck. Never saw it coming and that hurt like crazy. I also sold a VW diesel engine to a guy and he was a lot older than I am so I ended up lifting the short block into the bed of his truck. Fortunately, the head and pump etc was off of it. Between the two of those events, I called it a day but everything still hurts today.

If I had a nickel for every time I did that, I'd be rich. And I'm sure we are not alone. I call them misery magnets.

Revisiting this for a minute, I bought the NAPA 2790 ($81!) and it will not fit the aftermarket intake tube on my truck. There is not enough room for the BHAF on the end of the tube and I don;t want to cut it.

Before I take it back, does anyone have a spare of the hose from the airbox to the turbo?

Thanks

What size is your intake tube? A piece of 4" exhaust pipe will slip inside the 2790. The stock intake tube will slip over the outside of the 2790. I had to make a short bell extension because my stock hose became too short when I put on a different turbo.

It's aftermarket, I believe the logo on it is ASA Modified? I'll have to measure it. Here's a photo, you can see how long it is, there is a cone filter on the end of it.

Any hope that the BHAF can help with mpg? I didn't expect to get the 34 to 25 mpg the 5 speed 2WD got but my 89 non intercooled 727 3 speed automatic 2WD got 21 to 22 and this one is getting maybe 15 to 16 with the auto/OD. That seems sort of low compared with the 89 but maybe not?

Post 186 shows how I had it in my 91. It won't improve your fuel mileage. It will help your high boost performance and maybe lower your EGT and cut down on the smoke.
What gave me a couple more MPG on the 92 was a modified H1C. GDS 60mm compressor and a 16cm2 turbine house. I am going to put a BHAF on it as soon as I can get to it. I don't expect any fuel mileage change.

Digging through the storage shed this weekend and pulled out the parts I liberated from my 91 before they hauled it away. My new grid heater relays, 7 hole injectors, and low pressure piston lift pump. After I clean them up and get some gaskets, I'll think about putting them in. I have all my trailer towing stuff as well to put on my 92.

If I get any further behind, I'll catch up with myself going the other way. I need a garage I can work in!

I think it would easier to build another garage. Notice I didn't ask whose stuff is in the garage?
