Default Oil pan rust hole

Looks like I need to replace my oil pan b/c rust has created a pin hole.
Does anyone know if this is a simple remove and replace or is it more complicated?
I am guessing a new gasket is in order.
Planning on getting a Spectra Pemium oil pan.
Thanks, Gary

Good info. The tiniest pin hole is on the bottom of the pan, so my thinking is that I need to drain the pan well - maybe for a couple of days and then try JB or possibly a fiberglass patch. What do you think jetfuelj? BTW did you use the regular JB Weld?

If i recall correctly from other posts i have seen,it's fairly straight forward to do. I think you just need to undo one motor mount to get extra clearance to pull it out. Hopefully somebody smarter will confirm or deny this.

Its been a while since I messed with a Cummins in a dodge, but I believe you need to unbolt the suction tube and pull the pan with the tube. I don't really remember them being easy.

I used the regular JB Weld, cleaned it thoroughly and used as directed, on the bottom of the pan it would be best to replace the pan.....the hole I patched was on the side near the pan flange.

Replacing the pan will take care of the possible other pinholes still forming.

It is "extreme salt from road elements" pullinforme. Lots of surface rust in a few areas.
