Fan Clutch..?
Twice in 2 days I loaded and went to a job, engine temps about normal.
Got there and looking the site over and the truck high idles.
Engine temp is 210-220, only thing I see. I know it has high idled before when parked after a few short hard pulls, like maybe the tranny is a little warm, but I was just easing down the driveway.
Raise the hood and the fan is not turning, not at all! Spun it by hand and it has mild resistance, stops turning with the engine running.
SO I shut the truck off and unload the building. Temp 230 now.
Go back by in 10 minutes and start the truck, fan is turning now. No more issues the rest of the day.
Been mildly concerned for a while about it running 200-210 ish most of the time.
Got a 180 thermostat and new water pump. Radiator replaced a year or so ago.
When I replaced the A/C a few weeks ago the engine fan ran on high with the A/C on. I've been known to use this fact to cool down before shut down at the end of the day.
I'm thinking the fan clutch might be giving warning signs.
Any thoughts?

Doing some research and one site said "do not replace an electronic controlled fan clutch unless you have a check engine light/trouble code telling you it has a problem."..??
Not sure if I agree. Maybe I don't understand the system...or maybe they dont..??

The only electric fan clutch I deal with is on the 2007 KW T800.
The fan comes on at 210F and when the AC high side hits 320psi.

I went ahead and changed it yesterday. New one acts totally different. I think that's gonna be the answer to my problem, maybe more than one problem. New one turns about 50% all the time.

No more overheating and A/C works GREAT
But still runs 200 pulling a load.
Cools down to 180 or less while idling though.
Wondered for a while about the possibility of a very small head gasket leak.. may be even only under heavy load.

200 is ok while working, the newer engines run hotter now. Our KW's both run at 200 consistently loaded or empty with any kind of load on them. We keep an eye on the oil temp as well as the coolant temp when the oil temp starts creeping up we throw the fan on.

See this all to often. Let’s simplify it a bit. When was the last time the front of the radiator was cleaned?

MAX, I didn't remove it, but when I changed the A/C I pulled the condenser and cleaned it, sprayed degreaser on everything else and flushed after 15 minutes.
I usually spray it with 409 or something and flush it bout twice a year.
I roll lots of miles and I know bugs and junk will definitely reduce air flow.
