Default Quad Cab door latches.

After having to stop to close my passenger door 10 times in 20 miles, I thought for sure I was going to need to buy new latches. Lower latch wouldn't catch at all, top one barely. So I pulled the door panel. PITA!

There you can see where all those plastic panel retainers are. Dodge dealer wanted over $8.00 for two of them. Got 25 for $6.00 at a bodyshop supply store.

Latches looked like they were attached with screws from the bottom. Don't try to unscrew from bottom. Remove nuts from inside door with deepwell socket. Remove plastic actuator rod clip from rod. Latch comes out bottom of door.

That lever was froze up tight as a drum. 2 days of soaking with penetrating oil and cleaning out with brake cleaner and air, it broke loose. Worked it around a zillion times and re=soaked and cleaned. Worked like a charm. All kinds dirt, rust, and crud in there. Got it all clean and dry and lubed with silicone spray. Door now closes like a Caddie! Cleaned and lubed the top latch also. Checked driver side and lower latch was froze up worse than the other one. Followed same regimen and they now close the same. Close very easily and NO play in/out if you pull on top or bottom of door.

My solution to ever having to do those latches again! Now I can spray lube on those lever fulcrums anytime I choose. I have plugs for the holes.
Hopefully this helps someone save $80.00+ on a new latch.
I didn't have to adjust anything!
My truck is WAY quieter inside. No more breezes inside. I saved over $160.00.

I would have drilled those holes years ago if I'd known!

Just spray lube in the new holes?
Where exactly are the holes supposed to be drilled?

I may make those holes oblong. Lever is about 1-1/2 inch inside door. Oval hole you could see the lever with a penlight.
