Happy for you Coug, you all moved in now? Buying a used home is like buying a used car, there are always a few things you have to fix that were undisclosed by the previous owner. Congrats on the Master Tech too.

Sunny near 70 today. Changed oil in the Hemi and the old Bravada and not much else after church. May get some snow flurries later this week.

Hey Nigel, why are the turbo housings cast iron on the C13 & C15?

I don't really know Clunk, but the compressor wheel on
the hi-pressure is titanium, aluminum on the low pressure. The weak spot on these is the v-band clamp on the hi-pressure holding the bearing housing to the exhaust housing, they stretch with vibration and eventually break causing the turbine wheel to touch the housing and causing inbalance and a catastrophic failure. The v-band nut should be checked periodically and torqued to 130-160 inch lbs. There are also cooling tubes in the head that come loose and work their way to the hi-pressure turbine wheel and take it out. The actuator should also be set to start opening at 24-26 psi.

Good morning DR, 40* and clear....63* is foreguessed. Older brother brought me a throw rug for the living room, looks good and can't help but be warmer on my tootsies. Accomplished nothing over the weekend. I like it.

Having a heat wave back home. Lows in the 40s, rain instead of snow. This is going to be a bad winter! Even here in Cheezyboygan it's warm. The stock yards really, really stink!
Nigel, won't be moving until I get done with my rotation. Sometime toward the end of January. I might be able to get a few things fixed during my Christmas break.

Thanks for in info and warnings Nigel. The boost gauge shows 42psi WOT w/clean air filter. It's a 2007 KW Cat C13 engine w/ no DPF or DEF.

On the C13's , I believe we set the pressure to 22psi. Cat also make ball bearing turbos for the C13 and C15, you can tell by the finned bearing housing. They are a lot more complex to rebuild, balancing is very time consuming on those. A lot of the ball bearings are ceramic balls.

Maybe get one of your kin working at Red Lobster, then we can hit that joint a couple times a month, Canadian money at par
