ppump24v power loss
Hi everyone, last year I built a ppump 6.4 for my 4th gen (manual truck) and have never gotten the thing to run right. It runs and drives fine, but doesnt have much power and gets terrible fuel mileage (around 9-10mpg).
basic engine specs...(destroked 6.7)
6.7 block with the deck shaved to match factory piston protrusion
vp 24v head
5.9 crank
12v rods
6.7 QSB flycut pistons
215 ppump
Stock or 6x.011 injectors (vp pop pressure on both)
.093 or .084 hard lines
025 delivery valves
4kgsk
stock gutted feed tubes or gutted .093 ones
hamilton pushrods and springs
arp 625 head studs
SO... the engine doesnt seem to like to spool or really rev. Current setup is stock injectors, 025 dvs, and .084 fuel lines with an hx35 and 16* of timing. In overdrive it will spool the hx 35 at 1500 rpm with some smoke but the truck just seems lazy and gets terrible fuel mileage. Afc is all the way forward and I've messed with it a TON and its either clean but wont spool at all, or smokey and will spool ok. Right now its fueled heavy down low and will clear up under boost. I have 38-40 psi of fuel pressure idle and 35-37psi at wot. I've slowly backed down the fuel mods from what I started with to try and get the truck to run clean but it just doesn't seem to want to run very clean and its driving me nuts.
I've tried an s300sxe 62/74, every fuel mod listed above starting with the bigger fuel options i originally put on the engine, and timed the pump anywhere from 16-24* and it hasn't ever gotten any better
Any help or incite into what issues might be causing this would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Seems like the injectors should pop with the injector pump feeding them.
How much boost are you building? The exhaust housing and turbine seem kinda big.

I switched from the s300 since it was super laggy and put back on the hx35. I can get 35-40lbs of boost at 40-50lbs of drive pressure in overdrive. I have the gate blocked off for now because it wouldn't spool at all with it hooked up. Egts climb pretty fast over 30lbs of boost

So I did a boost leak check and found that I had a big leak at the intake horn. Fixed that and that helped a tad, but still not to what I feel a mostly stock truck should have power wise. Still wont light the hx35 until 1500 rpm in overdrive.
I fixed the wastegate to open at 30-32psi which helped keep drive pressure down to around 40psi max.
I do get what sounds to be rail rattle around 1900-2000 rpm under load. Not sure if that may be a tell tale sign of injection pump wear or not.

What exhaust temperatures are you seeing?

Cruising under 2k rpm in double overdrive doing around 75-80, it stays around 800-900. Wot i can peg my 1600 egt gauhe if i stay in it long enough. Doesnt take long to get it past 1200.

The exhaust temps show sufficient fueling as does the boost pressure.
That leaves timing doesn't it?

Thats what id think as well. Not sure if the combination of vp injectors and bigger fuel lines make that much of a difference on timing. I have it set at around 18* right now. Just bumled up from 16* the other day and it seemed to habe possibly helped a tad. I may try and bump it up more and see what happens. I tried messing with timing before and it didnt fix the issue, but maybe i was fudging it somehow.

I've read as high as 30 deg. for melting pistons and 24-26 pullin' a sled.
