I use that filter too, but I had to put a steel ring about 1" wide inside the neck in the filter to make for a better clamping surface, so it wouldnt collapse.

I did the same thing except it is about 6" long and was expanded half its length to a diameter that fit onside the hose. My aftermarket turbo sat in a different place making the bellows hose a tad to short.

Okay. I must not know the definition of BHAF. Big Honkin Air Filter, right? Can anyone post a photo of this setup?

This is what I have:

You can't see it but there is a K&N style filter on the end of the tube.

I took off my K&N as I have seen too many turbos with oil covered compressor wheels. But I managed to stuff a BHAF on the end of the stock tubing and it sits in the inner fender. Ill try to take a pic tomorrow when its daylight and show you.

Thanks. I've heard that as well about K&N's but I'm not sure this is a K&N, it just looks like that type and that's usually what's stuck on the end of a CAI. The guy I bought this from has owned a bunch of CTD's, in fact he sold them for a Dodge dealer for years so I was a little surprised to see it on there if there was a chance it was going to oil the turbo vanes.

Post 171 shows my set up. The BHAF is about 1/2 again larger than stock. It sits in the same location as the stock filter except it attaches to the finder instead of the wheel well.

Okay, it all makes sense now. For some reason I thought the filter you were using is the same as the filter that usually sat in the filter box, it was just that you removed the box completely, but the filter is actually 1.5 size of OEM. I'm not handy with fabbing stuff up but I know some people who are. I'd have to come up with the original filter tube as well, I'll see what's out there on eBay.

Thanks

I'm guessing the metal tube you have has a boot on the end to connect to the original filter box. If that is correct, all you need to do is come up with a 4" ring inset for the BHAF to support the neck. Your boot will then clamp onto the OD of the BHAF's neck.
