My greatest concern has always been an accident where I was over specs, ie GVWR, under rated tires on truck or 5er etc.. I think you are probably legally permitted about 11,000 lbs of trailer even though you can pull twice that imo.

My truck is rated for a trailer of 13050lbs GVWR. The trailer GVWR IS 12995. Dry is 9125. Haven’t scaled it yet when we’re out, but I doubt we’re over 11k as I dump black and gray and leave no more than a 1/3 tank of fresh water. Travel as light as possible.

Mountain grades always are the test.....both up and down. Black Mountain in NC driving west tests the mettle of any truck.....I'm in 5th doing 50MPH at best at the crest......I-75 N from KnoxVegas is a 65MPH climb in 5th as well at about 1/3 throttle. Getting down the mountain is the challenge, I practice stab braking to avoid head fade and slow some what before starting my descent.

45 now that I have been thru it [DOT] your gvwr rating of truck and trailer are the deciding factor for LEGAL pulling In Kansas class c is 24000 total with a commerical plate 26001 lbs or less anything over that CDL and a DOT number in my case truck at 9000 and trailer at 24450 equals 33000 lbs my loaded total 27350 lbs well below that but they use gvwr here in kansas

It is recommended to travel empty or full to avoid the sloshing weight and potential damage from a partially full water tank. Just found this out recently on RV.com. Great resource BTW
