Default 2017 2500 Auto Level Rear air suspension

I am looking to upgrade my 2007 2500 with a new 2500. Since most of my driving is empty, i would assume that the rear air suspension would be the softest empty.
This system replaces the rear coils completely with air bags, so it has a small air compressor and tank.
I know the new 2500's ride a lot better than the 3rd gen, but is that added system worth it?

This is completely different than the air suspension in the new 3500's since they still have leafs and the bags are just helpers.

The rear coil spring suspension is quite comfy in my opinion, you can always change to aftermarket airbags after the fact. The factory air suspension is also a sealed system. It has a compressor and tank thats prefilled with nitrogen, so if you get a small leak you have to take it to the dealer for service. With an aftermarket setup you will have an air compressor that would just run a little more often till the leak gets fixed.

I like the concept of air suspension, how does the dealer service this system and what is the flat rate.....dealers do little for free.

It would be what ever the shop rate is for that particular dealer and any parts as needed

I'm guessing they would just replace it.

I do believe that you can recharge it, I'm not sure how, but I'm sure that it involves a service routine that you would need whatever they are using for thier high level scan tool now to do.

If it involves that much effort I may revisit the air ride and opt for springs instead. Simply is good.

Yup K.I.S.S. is a good way to go. Springs with riderites work great.

My 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee has the air suspension system and it works pretty good although it's failed twice since 2011, once for a hose leak then once for a compressor fail.
Because the bags bottomed out for the leaker hose under warranty, Mopar paid for the roll back.
The bags didn't bottom out with the compressor fail so it was driven to the dealer and paid for with the extended warranty.
It squats down at highway speeds for less wind resistance
The ride height is adjustable for road/off road conditions
End result, it has not been any benefit to me.
