New to Bio Diesel...and diesel altoghether
I'm looking the get a 2500 to run B100. I have heard the new ULSD injectors won't run it or even blends of more than 2-3%. What do I need to know if I want to get a truck and run B100 (i.e. what model years, what engine, what mods, what maintenance issues, pros and cons etc.)? Any help is appreciated.

Cochise, first , welcome to the site. As I understand it you are planning on getting a 2500 CTD.
My old 12valve likes bio just fine. Commercial or homegrown stuff . It seems to clean out the tank and of course this clogs the filters when you FIRST run it. But thats what filters are supposed to do. Other than a change of filters { or two}, nothing bad happens. Truck runs a little quieter and smells less like diesel and more like french fries, depending on the source and % of bio/homegrown fuel.Talk to some local guys and see how your weather affects them and what /where they burn in their Cummins. Not sure about late models.

I'm looking to replace my '96 1500 5.2L ext cab 4x4 with a diesel so that I can run Bio-diesel. I am looking for a '03-`08 2500 quad or ext cab 4x4, with 5.9 CTD, short bed. I'm looking for suggestions/ advice on running bio and any modifications for running bio.
J_R_R- I didn't fill out a signature because I haven't gotten a diesel yet.
bamacat- thanks, how often are you changing filters? In Iowa most people I know don't even try to run Bio (at any %) in the winter- too many issues with gelling.

The pump I use is 5-20% bio all year round. I've never had an issue and I don't use any additives.

I change fuel filters about every 5-6k unless she starts feeling puny. The pump bio is safe to run most of the year down here.I run antigel when the weather guesser start hollering 25F or lower. Just cheap insurance to be sure my butt isn't sitting on the side of the road ,trying to change a filter.. I stopped running the homegrown and the filtered frenchfrie grease till steady temps in the 50s or above come back around. Works for me. But remember, mine is an old tough, manly, hairychested 12v with a p pump . The later models might not enjoy this diet

Thanks bamacat. I have heard that the old 12v run well on bio.
You or anyone else ever run 100% bio or run your own blends?
Anyone running the 3rd gen on bio?
I'm thinking about going to WVO eventually, maybe...just don't want to drop that much to convert until I know a little more.

Run 50-60% average WVO/diesel blends in summer in truck and my farm tractors. Just drain water traps every week. Really helped when diesel got high.

Been running B100 in my 04.5 for a couple of years. The truck loves it.
I've read studies that the 6.7 with the DPF can have significant issues with oil dilution.

So here is one of the 2500's I'm considering.
"2006 Dodge Ram 2500 Sport package: white exterior, gray cloth interior, 79k, power windows, power locks, power and heated mirrors, cruise control, power siding back window, power adjustable pedals, tilt, over cab clearance lights, fog lights, 6 disc cd player, a/c, automatic, flip down dvd/tv on ceiling, radio controls on back of steering wheel, power drivers seat, 4x4, B & W hideaway gooseneck ball, plastic bedliner, block heater, leveling kit, all 4 new skyjacker shocks, new skyjacker dual steering stabilizer, 2007 western 8' snow plow used very little (with handheld controller), full 5" stainless exhaust turbo back with 6" chrome tip, S & B cold air intake system, Bullydog triple pup programmer with special crazy larry edition, built new transmission with a triple disc torque converter, has 35"x12.50 tires on it now, but are not in to good of shape will put new ones on it before sold! Also put 2 brand new batteries in it 2 months ago!"
I've heard of some people having issues with the common rail and injectors when running B100. Anyone have suggestions on mods or can point me to discussion on these issues or other issues with the ISB CR engines?
