Lightbulb Frankintrans

Up here in Alaska the parts pool is very dry. So improvise is the state motto. I want a lockup trans for my 92 4X4. A 47RH can't be found unless you pay a premium price for the whole truck. So what I need to know is what transmissions and their parts can I use to build one. Converting my A518 is one option, but it would be nice to know all of the options. Especially it it renders a stronger transmission. The local wrecking yards sell only complete transmission for a high price. Once in a while something will show up on craig's list or one of the other local classifieds. Shipping parts in is expensive so I want to keep that to a minimum. Can you help me out?

I kicked the stone over the edge. Ordered the 3 pin connector from PACT. Contacted a couple recycled parts yards for an adapter plate. And got the guy who did my 01 transmission interested in helping me with the conversion.

Picked up the adapter plate from a local yard for $175. The closest place out of state wanted $130 just for shipping.

Found a possible doner trans, Junk yard has it. 350K miles and they want $900 for it. Leary abut the mileage.

May have found a 47RH 4X4 trans. The guy who has it was out fishing. He said he'd check when he got back to the shop.

Houston, I have a core! That was the big question. Now I can gather up all the other little parts I will need.

Updates:
Found an overhauled 47RH in a transmission shop that was closing his doors. Got it cheap with a billet single disc converter.
Have a Compushift Mini on the way to control it.
Have a rear drive shaft front segment and the rear transmission mount plate to modify.
