flamingmad Need advise

Its been awhile since I've been on here but now I need to fix my truck. Yesterday raton pass killed my truck. On the way down I had a fire under the hood. It was running between 1100 and 1200 all the way. What can i do to make it pull my 34 foot camper without trouble?

With your setup you shouldn't be anywhere close to that. I have pulled it before and bigger passes and never see that temp. Especially going down a pass.

How hard were you pushing the truck?

Boost PSI?

15 to 20 psi boost at around 2100rpm. I was even running 1100 to 1200 on flat ground and have to let out of it to keep it that low. Cant hold 70 mph most the time.

Is air filter clean? Maybe timing slipped? Are you stock or modified?

Radiator is clean and less than a year old. Its a 5 speed so no trans cooler.

Truck is the one i have in my signature. Air filter looks clean but i can clean it to make sure.

Clutch slipping at all? Ever? How heavy are you with trailer? Does it seem like the truck lost power without the trailer? I know the questions sound weird but its weird your running that hot on level ground. Is it that hot with no trailer?

It has a southbend clutch and its not slipping. Tag on the trailer says 7500# dry. Seems to drive like normal without the trailer. It will run 700 to 800 with normal driving
