47 and 48 re trans do not circulate fluid in park only in neutral and drive ranges. Another reason why we shouldn't idle in park.

Seems I remember something about that, pumps in neutral, not in park.....drop in neutral on cold mornings to get fluid moving before pulling out.

I did read some of the basic operation thread...trying to figure out just what might cause all forward gears to slip.

Max, would an under drive unit help and still make the trans hold up?

I looked a Gear Vendors website, My thoughts was a reduction gear box for those steep/ hard pulls....go back to direct drive for road work....but at 25k loads plus the wind resistance.....a bigger truck may be the answer....
