Default This aught to work

Added some bracing and fabbed a better filter support. A little fine tuning and that should work all right. Just waiting on the prefilter.

Looks good. My 93 came with a CAI, I'm weighing whether to scare up a stock filter box and go back to the AFE like I had on the 5 speed.

AFE and K&N wouldn't be my choice for filters. I've always live in very dusty dirty areas and I've seen them pass too much dirt. I've run the paper filter with a water repellent pre filter for a long time and they've done quite well.

Do you make your pre-filter water repellant? ScotchGuard?

It's not dusty where I live, everything is paved, the only dust we run into is during harvest season.

What filter combo do you run?

I run a Napa 2790 filter which is a Duralite filter with an Outerwears 20-1085 pre filter which is made from a water repellent nylon. In the years I've used this combination, I've never had any issues.

I run the same filter as Cougar but without the outerwears. The first one lasted well over 100,000 miles and I decided to replace it because of the miles on it rather than the dirt. Besides, my replacement cost $50 at NAPA so my yearly filter cost was minimal.

Sounds like you guys are saying go back to the stock airbox and this NAPA filter? As mentioned, the only serious dust I get is off of my driveway and some airborne stuff during harvest season. I have no idea how long the CAI has been on there. The truck seems healthy enough and I'd like to keep it that way.

The NAPA 2790 filter is a BHAF and doesn't fit in a stock air box. The neck on the filter fits the hose that goes from the air box to the turbo with no modification.
