AMSOIL universal ATF will cover a broad range of ATF ratings to include ATF+4. Personally the first day in my 47RE the AMSOIL Universal ATF was way too slippery.

Been using Dex/Merc in mine.

I did find the Mopar ATF+4 in Wally World for the Lib, seems they don't carry in anymore.

A synthetic ATF is not more “slippery” than petroleum ATF. The base fluids, whether or not petroleum oil or synthetic oil, play no direct role in the relative friction levels of wet clutches. The friction-modifying additives developed for petroleum oils work just as expected in synthetic PAO fluids.
The longer the fluid resists oxidation, the longer the original frictional properties remain.

Nothing beats changing oil and filter often.. The problem with running oil beyond a recommended change life is the acid in the oil contaminents etc... I agree with a top shelf oil and filter within reality.. Oils have been argued since the recip. eng. began.. waste of time to mud sling,, every mechanic-tech. has his own opinion.. Besides that i,m older than dirt...

This is true depending on oil and filter you choose to run. Example: My oil on my 07 6.7 is still suitable for continued use at 16,000 miles on oil. My 02 before trade in had 5 years and 70k on oil and OAT stated still good at time of trade in.

It's up to the oil's additive package (TBN) to neutralize acid and the rest of the additives to hold dirt in suspension, then up to the filter to remove the dirt, either full flow or bypass filter. Most dirt will not get trapped with OEM filters with efficiency rating of 25 microns.

I feel older than dirt.....

Ditto.

ATF+4 formulation is exclusive to Chrysler LLC and ATF+4 is a registered trademark. The Center for Quality Assurance (CQA) monitors quality standards through each step in the fluid's progress from license through commercialization. Each blender and re-brander involved in the production and sale of ATF+4 must be licensed, facility accredited and undergo a range of product testing prior to final licensing. Licensed brand names are periodically market-sampled to ensure consistent quality

I'm running Dexron like Tim said. It's getting close to changing it again to get out more of the old crappy fluid.
