Default Nitto's

After sliding around a lot today, and seeing a totaled 2nd gen like mine from sliding off the road by the house...it was time for tires.

I need a good all terrain tire. Here were the contestants in a 265/70/17E:

BF AT KO- these are lined in gold at a fine price of 268.00 each.

Yokohama Geolanders- 189.00 each

Nitto Terra Graplers- 200.00 each

Michelin AT2- 239.00 each

After some thought, I had the Nitto TG on my last truck and really liked them...and that is what I went with. I will keep you posted on long term use.

This month is going to be rough on tire cost. Tomorrow I am getting some BFG KM2 tires for my Jeep. 40/14.50/17...Ouch.

That is the price in 265's? Must be a mistake........or they have shot up. Hope my Coopers hold out.

I wish, but the BFG AT KO tires ranged from 258 and up. Average was 268.00

I towed a light load with them this morning, road & towed nice. My last set were 295/70/17D, and they were pretty decent, but the load range was just too wobbly.

That is why I run them E's sir...

If you aren't towing much...D work fine for the most part. For me they just don't get the job done.

Just put a set of Cooper Discoverer ATP's on mine. Price was better than the REVO's I've had in the past. I really liked the REVO's, but for a $300 premium over the Coopers I decided to give the Coopers a shot. I had a set of Discoverer ATR's in the past and was very happy with them. The ATP's have a nice, deep tread design and a 55,000 mile warranty. Very quiet so far, but still new. We'll see how they hold up.

The Coopers Say "Made in the USA" right on the side. That is a plus I guess.

Keep in touch, I have another year or so on my ATR's....not good off-road but I'm not off-road, I want the full benefit from my highway fuel taxes.

I put on Copper ATR's because they were cheaper compared to BFG's and Hancook......I have always used BFG AT KO's.......three out of four tires have been replaced by Discount Tire (in the first 30,000 miles) as the sidewalls have bulged. They aren't worth a hoot in the mud......they are a good highway tire.

Interesting........My ATR's lasted 48K and wore perfectly. I don't recall how they were in the mud since it was 150K miles ago. If the ATP's let me down I'll go back to the REVO's, but I'll give them a shot first.
