Default Cooper or Hankook

Stopped by a local Tire shop today. Got prices of $160 per tire out the door for the Hankook, and $165 out the door for Cooper. This is about the best price around for the 235/80/17 I have found. Since my Tranny is currently being rebuilt by Tim Holt. I really don't have any cash left for tires but desperatly need them. Are these tires OK. Is one better than the other.

I'm running Hankook ATM on mine for about 15k mile and am happy with them. I am running over sized tires (265's) on mine.

Check this,
I've dealt with these guys 3 times with no problems.

Well this comes to $175 per....sorry, disregard.

You might check some of their other tires though.

I would go with the Cooper. We have good luck with them at work. We run alot of Illinois gravel roads and the Coopers hold up well. Also I believe the they are made here in the USA not overseas, not sure where Hankook makes tires but with a name like Hankook I doubt they are made here in the US by a guy named Joe, Bob or Ed or anything like that!

Handkook tires are made in Indonesia. More than 50 percent of the plant's capacity to tires for the North American market.

Never heard much about them, heard good reviews about Cooper. Coopers plant is in Findlay, OH

My 09 had Generals on, back wearing great, front are wearing on the outside, probably front end is out.

I've got almost 60,000 miles on my Cooper ATR's in LT265/70 R17E. I'll probably replace them before next winter. Should have around 75-80,000 miles on them by then. Good tires.

Cooper also makes the Discoverer ATR's in LT275/70 17E and LT285/70 17D for those that want a bit larger tire.

Decided on the Coopers, went back to the shop they were on backorder. All he had available that day was Firestone Transforce AT. so I got them all six mounted, balanced and installed out the door for $1000. Happy with the price, tires ride smooth. only thing is that I put them on 2 days after having Tim Holt rebuild my tranny, and having my driveshafts rebalanced both front and rear. The truck seems to float or wander from time to time. which did not happen prior to the work and new tires. Any ideas.
