Kenwood hands down the best one I came across and installed in my 2000 with Polk Audio DB's. They have the most power across the board then Alpine or Pioneer and the sound is real clean.

I'm a Pioneer fan. Have one in each of my vehicles. My 01 has the Inphinity speakers, my Y2K Subaru has Pioneer speakers, the 92 has some cheap 6X9 road kill speakers from the late 90's. All of them sound pretty good, good enough for the road noise anyway.

I always thought Infinity was high class, till I got a few Rams.
Swapped a couple Pioneers that were good stuff.
Had a Toshiba that was really nice.
Always heard Sony was good stuff, never owned one.

I have an in the house Pioneer 8 track player/recorder. The drive belt keeps slipping off the pulleys and those poor 30 & 40 year old tapes are deteriorating so badly, playing one nearly kills'em. I guess CD's will last a few hundred years since they're plastic covered.
