ok I parts for diesels are in high demand. I think they are like boats "Bust Out Another Thousand". but my tranny guy has a getrag fresh rebuilt for $1200 with a 3yr or 100K mile warranty. plus I know goodale transmission in Columbus will rebuild anything for a starting price of around $450 and they offer warranty too. I have also found nv45s and getrag on craigslist for a fair price but condition can be a issue their might be good might be bad. I don't mean to make any one mad or upset just letting you all know what I have found and sharing info

if you have a getrag rebuilt for $1200 I would most certainly jump on it. As far sa getting mad, we with 1st gens don't get mad. We are always open to new parts sources. Have you look into what all is involved in a NV4500 conversion?

As far as I know. A NV4500 swap invalves a bell house a new rear spindal (thingy that your U-joints bolt into) different cross member that bolts onto your frame and a new drive shaft, because the NV is longer than the getrag by 3" . I think you can use the same clutch unless the NV you get has the bigger input shaft

My Son's friend just picked up a 1989 first gen for $750.00, 400,000 kilometers, runs like a charm, and he's parting it out. Its a 5spd getrag, and a non intercooled 12 valver, with an engine brake and a rebuilt injection pump. I already got the grey plastic trim from inside. Body is rough shape, but the engine and tranny runs great. All he bought it for is the dana 60 front end.

CRAP!!! Was just informed by my sons friend that he went off roading in the first gen yesterday and he fell in love with it, now no parts for Nigel.
