Default 06 Rough idle no power over 2300

I have a bone stock 06 with 6 speed 3500 DRW. Slowly it has developed a very rough idle and when it is driven and engine reaches 2300 or above it starts to shake with no power and see black smoke from exhaust. Checked codes and it shows none. Don't know if injectors are on their way out or if pump may be playing a role in this. Truck does seem to run slightly better when fuel additives are included. Any ideas are appreciated.

Check your oil level and see if it's rising any. If it is, you most likely have an injector going out.

Sounds like you need to put a loaded trailer on and go out and run it hard. They need worked to keep the injectors clean.

This truck pulls a trailer everyday so is really stinks when you go to ask for some throttle and it isn't there. Oil stays in normal range and smells ok. How would I determine if an injector is going bad?

Probably best to take it to a dealer to have it hooked up to a computer. They can shut down the injectors individually to determine the bad injector. If you have no codes it sounds possible one of your injectors have failed. Some times moisture can get into the injector plugs and cause similar issues but usually a code is generated. When injectors start to fail they can stick open partially and leak fuel into the engine and dilute your oil. If ran like this for any length of time you can burn out a cylinder and cause major engine damage. I had a friend who had this happen and dumped almost 15L from his engine.
