Default Rear Main...?

The 07 has started leaving quarter sized puddles of engine oil everywhere I stop.
Just noticed it Tuesday.
I had noticed before the bell housing area was oily, but hasn't leaked any significant amount. No oily spots where I park it every night.
I know I need to remove the inspection plate and see if it's oily inside the bell housing, but its sloppy wet and I don't have a shop or a concrete slab to work on.
Just wondering if anybody else had a rear main leak, and if it's usually progressive, or if I should be concerned about catastrophic failure when driving it 500 miles a day.

I suspect my tranny warranty is gonna be exercised soon.
Feels like the TC trying to lock when pulling out the driveway in the morning.
Doesn't do it any other time, but it will load the engine and I feel the truck pulling hard while its cold.
Warranty expires in June. Guess I'm waiting to see if any other symptoms show up. Talked to the trans shop that installed it. They say they haven't seen that before and were gonna check with the manufacturer.
Would be easier to get them both at once for sure!!

My '01 had a drip and when I had the clutch replaced a few years ago, I had them to replace the rear seal. It held maybe a year and it leaves a drip every now and then. When I have the clutch replaced, I'm going to have them install another rear seal. A packing gland would be nice.

Well.....
Dry inside the bell housing, just a light oily film if I wipe my finger across it.
No oil higher than the oil pan gasket.
Checked the pan bolts & they're tight.
Most oily in that crevice between the engine & tranny. The 2 pan bolts on each side of the rear main are wet, fresh wet, but running 30 minutes & 15 at high idle there wasn't a single drip. Of course that wasn't at full operating temp. Probably never get there sitting still.
Am I wrong or wouldn't the rear main sling oil inside the bell housing..?

I have a 04.5. I have the same issue, and had Max replace the seal when he did my clutch. Like stated above, it started leaking again within a year. Quarter size spot on floor. I took it to Max again for something else and had him look at it. Rear main is not leaking, it is leaking from the front gear case cover and running down and back looking like rear main leak. Was told to replace the gear case seal the engine has to come out. Max tried to seal it up but she still leaks, but has not gotten worse. I do not have to add oil between changes. Hope this helps.

Probably not the rear seal.....wash the engine down and put UV dye in the oil....drive 25 miles and look around with a black light at night......betcha find the leak easily then. NAPA has a kit.

DougC, thanks for the info. I don't think that will be my case, but you never know. I don't see any oil anywhere on the engine past 3 pan bolts from the back.
JFJ, sounds like a plan.

Clunk, that's a good idea.
Haven't got the dye yet, but fueling up last night after 300 miles for the day and 80 mile run home there wasn't a single drip. I wiped the area with a shop rag when I was looking and it's not even wet again.
I'll keep an eye on it.
