Default aux tank plumbing

Hoping someone can help me out here. In the past I've plumbed my aux tank into the breather tube(overflow tube) for the oem fill neck with a T, fill while i'm driving via a dash mounted switch and a small electric pump. I was just looking at my 2017 2500 and it's a metal tube, and it looks like some kind of vacumm module next to it. Has anybody hooked up their aux tanks this way? Any issues and how did you get in there to cut the tube?
