My 1st question would be was it breaking flex plates before it was overhauled. If it was, I'd say there was a misalignment issue from the factory. Crank shaft, adapter plate, or transmission. If after, I'd be looking at the transmission. Particularly the input shaft and bearing, and/or the torque converter.
