Switching to Cork Trans Pan Gasket

use RTV on both sides?? Tired of cleaning trans fluid on the pan, been using the OEM gasket for to long. Leaks the most when towing.

Oh, changing Diff oil too, I want to switch to 95/140, to much??

I've never found RTV to be a good sealant around any type of oil, especially hot oil. I either use Aviation Permatex or a Dow Corning silicon grease called DC4. Regardless of what you use, the surfaces must be absolutely clean. Any oil residue will cause a leak.

OEM gasket is the best. Next best gasket is a Duraprene. No sealant required.

Guess I should of mentioned I use a MagHytec DD pan, the OEM gasket on steel to aluminum doesn’t work well between the tow metals, hence the switch to cork.

Opinions on the Diff fluid weights??

Use the Duraprene gasket. The same that was supplied with the Mag Hytec pan.

Is the Duraprene gasket a one time use or can you get away with reusing it?
Also, when towing, my GCW is just over 18K lbs. can I get away with 95/140 gear oil? My winters are pretty mild unless I'm in the Seierras.

We use 75/140 in the rear 75/90 in the front.

And yes you can reuse the gasket around three times. Lube the gasket with atf and install.

Thanks again!
