that was the unofficial nickname we all chose for the '98 12-valve, since the 24-valve was officially the "98.5". Mine was made Oct97. Since model years generally run from 1September to 31August, I guess mine should really be called a 98.2, and the 24-valvers (changeover was 1Jan98) should be 98.4, 98.5, etc. until the August 98 end-of-model-year trucks that should be 98.9's.

Nice trucks. Somehow I can feel the humidity just looking at the pic. Got a buddy that builds helicopters at the Army base there. We got high temps here but not that dang humidity. Nice to be by the water though.

Yup, nice to be by the water...I need to get an outside thermometer, as I suspect we're probably about 5*F cooler here on the canals than it is in town. (you can mapquest my neighborhood 1535x or 1536x Mutiny Court zipcode78418)

The humidity's good for the skin, so long as yer not made outta sheetmetal.

Hey....while I'm think'n about it, Do Any of Y'all know of a front receiver I could order for that Ramcharger?

I've still got the one I pulled from the pickup when I got the new bumper, and can modify it to fit between the framerails on the R/C (cut off the old "ears", fabricate new ones that match the bolt-holes and re-weld)...After the darn electrician's given me a new 220VAC outlet in the garage.
I'm tempted to do it in such a manner that it tucks in right behind the bumper, and just drill/cut a square hole right behind the license tag...rehang the tag on a piano hinge, and use small magnetic clamps to keep it from rattling when there's nothing in the rec'r.

But it would be more convenient to simply get one off-the-shelf

Remember the plate hinges on cars that had the fuel filler behind the license plate?

yup...I'd still have to cut a 3x3 hole thru the bumper, ...I could also rotate the rec'r 90* downward, and make a removable draw-bar shaped like a T, so that there'd be horizontal access, but, that'd give up a bit of ground-clearance/approach angle

similarly, "ears" that locate the crossbeam lower than the framerails, and the box below bumper-level would do so as well.

Have you noticed any pre-made front rec'rs on line (it's a '90 model)

Electrician's been and gone...got a nice 30-amp/110VAC RV plug and a 220VAC welder plug...Now, I just need to free up some time, find some ambition, and do some cutting, drilling and welding....I might also hit a salvage yard and see if I can find one of those old spring-loaded tag frames.
