Stay tuned as I go through the build stages of the head assembly. Fire rings , new valve springs and a super special intake manifold.

Well today I pulled the valves out of the head and ultrisonic cleaned the valves to inspect them. Plus did a little mod to the intake ,see if you can spot it.

Kinda dirty but that was taken care in the wash tank as I was tierd of dealing with a greasy part.

Not too terribly bad for having 211k on the valves as they looked fairly good on the seats . The exhaust where a little impacted but nothing a good three angle valve job won't take care of.

This was after we had ultrisonic cleaned the valves for inspection.

The intake valve is on the right and the exhaust on the left.

HMM something is wrong with this picture.

Yep you got it I whacked the intake plenum off . I won't elaborate on this just yet as I got to keep you all coming back on this.

Plasma cutter does a nice job at this.

Stay tuned everyone as I do my magic on the intake plenum . Trust me it's not cheap ,but alot of fun to do.

And here is the final product after Auburn Machine finished milling the rest flat.

Finally a little breather to work on the project truck.

Before I send this head off to Extrude Hone to have the ports and runners massaged .

I started by port matching the exhaust side and blend in a bit . Most all of the imperfections will be taken out by the Extrude Hone. As you can see I marked the exhaust with a marker and a new exhaust gasket then blended from there.

Next was to blend around the intake valve guides to unshroud it a bit to smooth the air flow to the valve.

As you can see I really started to unshroud them and paying close attention not to take too much off.

Once done the head will be shipped off to Extrude Hone and for about 1000 bucks we will have a very clean flowing head.

Got the springs installed along with the Titanium retainers and locks. Fresh coat of paint and check out these kick butt valvecovers from Auburn Tool and Machine http://www.auburntoolandmachine.com . These covers are a 1/2 inch taller than OEM . This is to clear the ARP studs that are taller.

Sorry but the only way to get these is through me as I hold the blueprint.

Little late we are still getting pics compiled for this.

Here is our intake manifold . Started with a 3/8 thick sheet and then to cut our way down to what you see. Milled the center for the top grid heater plate . Tapped ,helicoiled for our bolts . Then it was time to weld and fit. This took us awile as welding aluminum takes alot of heat . We still had to mill portions or the manifold to get it flat to the head.
