Well here is the start of the tear down and inspection. Judging from the boogered up delivery valve heads ,I knew that somebody had been inside and much to my surprise they had . So further inspection in my eyes was required . If you are going to make a sled or drag truck and you have no knowledge of the truck, it's required that you do this in order to keep you from scratching your head down the road.

Here's the AFC housing , I will get into this later on.

Here's a view of the fuel plate,this is a 180 pump.

The plate on the left is a 180hp plate, the one on the right is a 215hp plate. These are stock.

Next you will notice the governor arm that ride against the fuel plate.

This is a view of the governor spring assembly ( one side) set up stock in the housing.

Next is with the springs removed .

Here you see all of the springs from each side of the governor spring rack. Notice the shims and the buckets in which they sit in . Also notice that the spring all fit inside of each other.

This is the pump with the delivery valves removed.

If you look close enough the delivery valve heads have been boogered. Notice the socket at the end ,this is the tool to remove them . Don't use plyers . Also look at the # 5 plunger it's different than the others . It's marked 665 and the rest are 664's . Not sure why this has been done but I will find out before reassembly. The delivery valves are those star looking things .

From here I'm going to stop . Other parts of this will come later.

Well upon further review I had to send the pump out for about 2 grand worth of work . Not what I had in mind but there was just too much that I found wrong and not having the high end machines such as a flow bench I came to the decision to send it to JetPilot http://www.pdwpower.com for repairs.

Good part about this decision was, when it comes back it will be assembled and ready to install . Plus it will flow the correct amount of fuel to support the numbers we are trying to achieve.

Ok for anyone that is follow this thread , the DV holders are upside down EXCEPT for the one second from the right.

If you where to install DV's the correct way the holder is installed is the one second from the right.

This is for 160, 175,180 pumps.
