Howdy,

I hate to sound stupid again, but sometimes I just can't help it. When I changed my fuel filter last two times I bought the whole cartridge complete with water sensor, etc. And tossed the old one. I was on e-bay today and some folks are selling just the internal filter elements for 6.7s.. Please don't tell me I tossed two perfectly good housings that could have been re-used. I got the last two (Mopars) from Genos for only 13 bucks each, something about the pricing was screwed up, but at the time I didn't know what the real price was. I should have bought a dozen. Can the internals be replaced in these?
Thanks,
W.W.

I pretty sure they don't come apart. I have been purchasing the fleetguard and just looked at the one I have. Geno's has the listed at $29.95 ea.

I just seen that on ebay, maybe they do come apart ? I really never looked at mine just unscrewed it and put on the new one. Going to see if the new one I have does.....

IT DOES. Cool I'm just going to by the replacement. If you take a flathead screwdriver and just pry it up the filter pull right out...........:) :) :)

Mopar P# 6806164AA
Fleetguard P# FS43258

Tried a search to find where to purchase so far I came up with no results, except the one on Ebay for $16 plus $6 shipping,

Howdy,
Thanks for checking Herb. When I get home from work today, I'm going to dig out the old one from the garage trash and check it out. If these are reloadable I only threw away one good housing then. I hate throwing away good stuff. I also hate buying stuff I don't need. I need to check out the prices of those replacement cartridges again, and see if they give any specs on them.
Thanks Again,
W.W.

I hear yeah, why spend around $26 to $30 on a whole canister when there is a replacement cartridge available.

Hey guys, the original Fleetguard part #, FS43252 seen here for less than Genos!

http://www.kensperformancesolutions.com/catalog/item/3900071/4969978.htm

is being discontinued and flying off the shelves like hotcakes. I have been getting orders from Dodge dealers because they can't get them from Dodge Direct anymore. Fleetguard is in the process of creating a new one, which the first time you have to buy the new canister and the cartridge filter, then in the future only the cartidge will need to be purchased and replaced, thus lowering your maintanence costs.

Herb:
Shame on you for going to Geno's

NO NO , I only quoted their price from their website Kenny. I still have one left from you. Soon as I use that one I will be ordering.

Howdy,
Called the dealer yesterday and actually got a price on the housing and filter elements from them. Hope you are sitting down. The housing is $73.60 and the filter elements that go into it are $38.95. I do believe the throw away ones were less than that. Hopefully someone will sell the elements for a reasonable price, then it would justify buying the housing.

get it from cummins its almost half the price of dodge. its like the tranny filter for my c/c. i have the asain 6spd auto tranny and dodge wants $150 for the filter and $60 for the gasket and $65 for the fluid. then a nother $100 if they do it. its nice the tranny comes with a 150k warrenty but $350+ to service it is insane!!! i have to start looking around for some better prices. the only thing i will have to get from dodge is the fluid. as of last check no one has it out yet

that number is for just the filter and is the mopar number. its not assembly. if you buy the assembly from geno's or some other place you can get it togather as a kit. after that you just change the filter cartridge with part number fleetguard fs43258... cummins 5257768.... mopar 68061634aa. the complete assembly part numbers are.... fleetguard fs43257...cummins 5257769..... mopar 68061633aa...

is it the stock one for the 07. if so i do not think it will work. i just put the new kit on my 07.5 today. i'll have to pick up some filters for it. not much room to get the old one out or the new one in. as i was told the 09 one is the one that we are changing over to on the 07-08's

Herb

The one I have is a Fleetguard FS43252 left over from the 07. I will have to get the correct one that I can just change out the inside filter.

it should work if you want to change the housing back to the old style. you could use it if you had to. just don't throw the old one out you will need it when you want to change back.
